Tropical Rainforest Batik

Tropical Rainforest Batik

The school has a Tate Club for gifted artists. These children were from across key stage two. They spent time drawing leaves, flowers and an animal each. They experimented with mark making. They each made a printing block using press print foam with many marks carefully indented into the foam. All the flowers were printed onto fabric. The animals were each traced onto fabric with batik wax and then painted using brusho watercolour inks. The children all contributed to batiking and painting the background. All the elements were cut out and stuck onto the background to create their tropical rainforest. The standard of their work was incredible.

Skills: Drawing, mark making, printing and batik.
