About Class Art Cornwall

Class Art is the partnership of Emma Griffiths and Lesley Cowen. Lesley and Emma have been friends for many years. Their love of art led them both to complete a Foundation Studies – with distinction – at the Falmouth College of Art with Lesley specialising in paint and Emma in textiles.

Early experience with children came by way of the Deep Art classes at the local primary school. These classes were designed to extend the skills of gifted and talented children and quickly made Lesley and Emma aware of the exciting possibilities of art as a way of unleashing children's innate ability to create. Success with these classes soon led to a wider range of art provision in primary schools including PPA, supply cover and also class, year group and whole school art projects. Art in one school has now grown to twenty schools across Cornwall and a special two day project at a primary school in Somerset. In every setting the outcome is the same: high quality art, based on a clear understanding of progression in drawing, painting, collage, printing, 3D and textiles.
